Why can't I see "anything" out of the telescope? | |
I just bought a Vivitar 50x/100x refractor telescope with tripod for my 88 year old parents who like to sit on their screened-in porch and look at the birds, flowers and butterflies - stars would be nice too! But when I set it up (and I know it's right because it looks exactly like the picture and I followed the directions precisely - and yes I did take the lens cap off) I can't see a blessed thing. I moved the lens back and forth slowly but still no luck. What am I doing wrong or is it just too cheap a telescope?

I have the same problem. What's worse, the telescope came with no directions

i had this same problem with this vivatar telescope.
i only solved the problem by attaching the mirrored diagonal, which also makes image right side up.
though the tripod isn't very sturdy, after using diagonal you have very good images. (can even see rings of saturn.)
